There was never any doubt that DJ Hero was going to be a franchise, was there? Well, in case you were wondering, Activision is reportedly scouting talent for next year’s offering.
GamesIndustry.biz is reporting that Activision has approached DMC and judge DJ Qbert about inclusion in the sequel. Qbert is a member of the Invisible Skratch Piklz and is consider a pioneer in the world of turntables.
Qbert would be the latest in the a fairly lengthy list of DJs and mix artists to appear in DJ Hero, which includes DJ Shadow, Cut Chemist and Daft Punk. As with Guitar Hero 5, Activision will undoubtedly be targeting other talent as well.

Maybe you’re tempted by one of those two new colors of DSi that were released earlier this month and want to pick one up. If that’s the case, be warned that when upgrading to a new DSi, none of your purchases on the DSiWare service are coming with you, at least in Australia.
Nintendo of Australia revealed to Nintendo Life (via GoNintendo) their policy on this, which is to say, you simply can’t bring your games with you. This is completely at ends with what you can do with Sony’s PSP, which allows you to download your games by simply logging into PSN or connecting to your computer and using the PSP Media Manager to transfer content.
There is an important exception to this: Should your DSi break and be rendered unplayable, Nintendo can transfer your purchases, provided they have their hands on both your broken DSi and your new one.

Did you ever play Pinball machines? I’m not clear on the relationship between console gamers and pinball. Anyway I got into it. There’s a classic arcade in downtown Portland called Ground Kontrol, and their top floor is pinball games. There’s also a world ranking system. And from I can tell the players travel to different national and international tournaments. Ground Kontrol, the arcade I mentioned, serves beer and wine after 5pm. There’re of course classic arcade games as well. – This guy

Brandon: Sure! I hope I didn’t answer this too late. Let’s see…well, there was this one time playing Guitar Hero with a friend…I think it was the first one? Maybe the second one…whichever one had “Heart Full of Black” on it. Well, I rocked a little too hard–a bad kick, or a bad landing, or something, because I did something horrible to my kneecap…like, it shifted way too far to one side, and I collapsed to the floor, crippled in pain. The thing is, though, is that we weren’t done rocking! So after I got back up and realized I wasn’t seriously injured, and was able to put weight on my knee, we resumed the song, and continued rocking into the night. It was challenging, sure, but I overcame the pain. There was also this one time I killed a bear with my bare hands, but that didn’t hurt as much.

I remember back on the old ezboard there was a thread called “I just lacerated my sack while trimming my pubes.” The topic was exactly that, some clown hacked open his ballsack while giving his nethers a trim. I think whoever it was intended the thread to be a cautionary tale, but instead he was roundly mocked and laughed at. I remember laughing and thinking to myself, what kind of sad, pathetic loser is so uncoordinated and inept that he ruptures himself performing standard genital maintenance? I guffawed and delighted at his expense.

As they often do, Nintendo has once again released a system update killing homebrew support for the Wii today, bringing us to version 4.2. Unfortunately, the benefit of updating isn’t particularly great, especially if you’re into the homebrew scene — the 4.2 update completely eliminates any such content you may have on your system.
Assuming you’re not the homebrew type, you won’t find anything new except supposedly increased system performance. Really, this update seems to fall in line with the 4.1 update, which also attempted to stop any unauthorized, third-party channels from calling the Wii home. But just like last time (and the times before that), it’s almost surely just a matter of time before the homebrew scene finds a workaround to once again let them run wild. Following that, we can all sit tight and look forward to update 4.3.

You don’t need to be a hardcore gamer (for that matter, you don’t need to have ever touched a controller in your life) to realize that Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey lives up to its name. Just look at the box. Simple.
The newest MegaTen, due out October 8 in Japan, got reviewed in this week’s post-TGS issue of Famitsu magazine — and the adulation came fast and furious all over Atlus’ latest. The game nabbed a total of 36 points out of 40 from Famitsu’s reviewers, all of whom had nearly nothing but good things to say about it.
“Strange Journey is balanced pretty severely throughout, but the game itself is kind, and there’s constant tension as you’re having fun exploring around,” wrote one. “Combining demons is the greatest asset the game has — they give you better results the more you use them, encouraging you to keep plugging away, and the battles are strategic enough to never get old. The experience is totally worth it, and it’s easy to get wrapped up in this unique world.” Another agreed: “The game’s accessible enough that series fans and people just passing by can enjoy this equally. The tutorial’s nice, and the mission goals are clear enough that you’re never really lost.”

The upcoming remake of Earthworm Jim for WiiWare, Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network, and iPhone will feature a few enhancements, including a level from the special edition, reports GamerBytes. The game’s code is being reworked from the ground up to allow new features like difficulty levels and online leaderboards along with the previously known HD graphics. The game will also include the “Big Bruty” stage from the Sega CD and PC versions of the game. Though we haven’t gotten a look yet at the new visuals for consoles, the screenshot (above) is a comparison of the old version to the iPhone.
The Wii version is being handled by a different studio, but the graphics are being optimized for its lower resolution. The company is reportedly considering a PSP version, but for now is focusing on the ones that have been currently announced. It is set to release later this year with a month-long window of XBLA exclusivity.
